9th International Probabilistic Workshop at TU Braunschweig (17 - 18 November 2011)

Safety, reliability and risk are key issues in a world with continuously increasing complexity.  Road and railway accidents, tunnel fires or natural hazards like hurricanes, floods or earthquakes show the vulnerability of our technical facilities and the natural and social environment. So the consideration of safety and risk is a key issue for design and use of civil engineering structures and infrastructure works.

Questions about the analysis and treatment of safety and risk arise, as well as questions about optimal safety levels or about acceptable values. Those interested in structural safety, reliability and risk as well as in broader views on the subject will find appropriate sessions during the workshop from 17 to 18 November 2011. Possible topics include various aspects of structural safety, probabilistic material and system description, risk assessment for design and use as well as for technical and natural hazards and risk perception.
